Amanda Heath Announces Run for District 15
AUGUSTA, Maine — Amanda Heath, a Navy reservist and small business owner with deep roots in Augusta and Central Maine, announced her candidacy for the open Maine Senate District 15 seat. The seat is open because Senator Dick Bradstreet is not seeking reelection.
“From my years working as a Navy mechanic, on active duty and now in the reserves, to owning a small business and raising my two sons here in Central Maine, my life has been about showing up, working hard, and solving problems,” Heath said. “Right now, too many families see that our political system is broken and failing them. I am running to be a steady, common-sense voice who will deliver real results for our communities.”
"That starts with strong public schools, safe and reliable roads, and making Maine more affordable for everyone," Heath continued. "In the Senate, I will work to support working people, especially the state employees who keep Maine running, our retirees, and families, while bringing down costs for housing, heating, and everyday essentials."
An Augusta resident and mother of two, Heath attended area schools, including Maranacook Community High School. She joined the U.S. Navy in 1996, serving on active duty until 2004 as a helicopter mechanic. A former Job Corps student, she later trained at the Aveda Institute and currently operates her own small business while continuing her service in the Navy Reserve.
"Amanda Heath has dedicated her life to service, and she brings a deep sense of compassion and selflessness to everything she does," said Senate President Mattie Daughtry. "As a veteran, a business owner, and a parent, she truly understands the challenges facing her neighbors. I enthusiastically support her candidacy and am excited to serve alongside her in the Maine Senate to get the job done for the people of our state."
Senate District 15 includes Augusta, Vassalboro, Mount Vernon, Sidney, China, and Belgrade.
